At this year’s Baltic Jazz completion concerts, Antti Sarpila Swing Band will perform with Swedish multi-talented artist Gunhild Carling as guest soloist. Her energetic stage presence, virtuosic playing, and charisma make every concert a memorable experience. The completion concerts will take place at the magnificent Söderlångvik Manor, whose historic setting provides a unique backdrop for the timeless sounds of jazz. The manor’s elegant surroundings and summery atmosphere create a truly special and immersive setting.

Antti Sarpila is an internationally renowned clarinetist and saxophonist who has brought Finnish jazz tradition to audiences around the world. His swinging style, precise sense of rhythm, and warm expression make each performance unique. Gunhild Carling, in turn, is known for her versatility: she masterfully plays instruments such as the trumpet and trombone, as well as sings, bringing charisma, energy, and humor to the stage—perfectly complementing the classic swing style of Sarpila’s ensemble.

12. COMPLETION CONCERT 1 – THE GREAT AMERICAN SONG BOOK À LA BILLIE HOLIDAY
The first concert dives into the sensitive and deeply expressive world of Billie Holiday. She was known for her unique way of shaping melody and conveying emotion. Antti Sarpila Swing Band brings these songs to life with elegance and swing, while Gunhild Carling interprets them through both singing and playing, paying tribute to these timeless pieces from the Great American Songbook.

13. COMPLETION CONCERT 2 – THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF LOUIS ARMSTRONG
The second concert takes the audience into the world of Louis Armstrong—one of jazz’s most important pioneers, known for his joyful and life-affirming style. His music, full of swing and warmth, is brought to life once again as Sarpila’s ensemble and Gunhild Carling perform some of his most beloved songs.
