The Library Goes to Jazz Street
The Kimitoön Library has collaborated with Baltic Jazz since 1995. Over the years, author visits have been organized both at the library and at the Old Verstas. This summer, the library brings its program to Jazz Street.
The engaging performance is presented by an artist couple based in Åland, Karin and Fredrik Erlandsson. The duo combines literature and jazz: author Karin Erlandsson reads from her works while jazz musician Fredrik Erlandsson provides improvised accompaniment.
Karin has written numerous books for readers of all ages. Her works have been translated into many languages, and she has received several awards, including the Runeberg Junior Prize twice, as well as other notable cultural awards. Fredrik is a versatile musician, composer, arranger, and teacher who plays multiple instruments and masters a variety of musical styles.
After the performance, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and purchase books.
Please note: The performance is in Swedish. Free admission. Welcome!
Tip: Kimitoön Library pop-up at Jazz Street on Friday from 3:00–6:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00–3:00 PM. Come learn more about the library and create your own jazz poem!
