GroovMo

The Baltic Jazz Friday Night Rock Party kicks off with a strong groove-driven energy as GroovMo, a band with roots in Turku, takes the stage. This five-piece group is made up of experienced and highly skilled musicians united by their love for soulful, groove-based music. Their motto, “Soulfull Music from the Heart”, can be heard and felt in every performance.

GroovMo features Karri Kerkelä (drums/vocals), Vesku Saloranta (bass/vocals), Vesa-Pekka Kuusinen (keyboards/vocals), Teemu Mäkinen (guitar), and Sakari Nieminen (vocals, percussion, harmonica). Together, they create a tight musical unit whose strong interplay, versatile vocals, and infectious rhythms generate an energetic and warm atmosphere that draws the audience in from the very first notes.

During the evening, the band performs a carefully curated selection of soul and groove classics from well-known artists such as Jamiroquai, Bruno Mars, Steely Dan, Sami Saari, Aki Sirkesalo, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Toto, and Tower of Power. GroovMo brings its own swinging touch to these songs, ensuring the audience has a great time—and very likely gets moving as well. GroovMo will perform at the Friday Night Rock Party at the Mechanical Workshop on July 3 at 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
